Can TB Pleural Effusion Be Contracted If Sharing Same Room?

Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here... I am taking the care of Tb pleural effusion infected person. And this is the first week of his treatment. we are staying on the same room. will this dieases spreads to me.

I can understand your concern.
Tubercular pleural effusion is classified as extra pulmonary tuberculosis. It is infection of pleural layers (layers surrounding lungs).
So lung tissue is not infected. And hence patient is not infectious.
Only pulmonary tuberculosis (lung infection) is infectious.
Tubercular pleural effusion is not infectious and hence no risk of infection by sharing same room.
