Can TBG Deficiency Cause Sluggish Thyroid?

I have inherited TBG deficiency. I have been diagnosed with a sluggish thyroid by my PCP and to start Levothyroxine 25 mcg. When you have TBG deficiency it changes how the results are interpreted. Would my T3 and FT4 be high or low in each? I will be talking to my primary tomorrow and I just want to make sure that my numbers are truly showing Hypothyroidism and not due to the TBG deficiency. Thank You,

Endocrinologist 's  Response
Hello,

If Hashimoto thyroiditis is confirmed than hypothyroidism is due to it, if no cause is found, then it may be due to TBG deficiency.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Mirjeta Guni, Endocrinologist
