Can Tamoxifen Be Taken Whole On Mucinex DM?

I just picked up Tamoxafen for my husband- we think has the flu (temp 101.0 F, cough, achy muscles. He also took 12 hr MucinexDM (600 mg/ 30 mg) & 12 hr pseudoephedrine at 6 pm. Is it ok to start the Tamoxafen tonight or wait till the other meds are out of his system ? He also is taking Ibuprofen but last dose was 3 pm today. Thankyou

Hello,

First of all, it is not Tamoxifen but its Tamiflu that is recommended for influenza A and B and H1N1 (swine flu). Tamiflu or Oseltamivir has no interactions with any of the drugs that you had mentioned.

So, you can start it. Let me mention the dosage details:

1) For treatment of influenza A and B, take Tamiflu medicine twice daily for 5 days.
2) For swine flu treatment, Tamiflu 75mg twice daily for 5 days. Skin rash and nausea are the common side effects associated with Tamiflu.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pallavi.m
