Can Tdap Antibodies Pass To The Fetus During Pregnancy?

I am 12 weeks pregnant. Almost 13 weeks. I was just told that I wasn t supposed to get my Tdap vaccine until I am in my third trimester, but I received the Tdap shot today, as well as my flu immunization. Will my baby still get some of the antibodies at birth? Or am I supposed to take the shot again (which I hear is not recommended)?

HI,
I understand your concern.
Your information is correct about- Ideal time for receiving T dap vaccination for passive transfer of antibodies to baby at birth is in 3rd tri master.( 27 to 36 weeks of pregnancy). Similarly repeat injection before 1 year in not recommended.
So your baby can be protected from getting infection of pertusis ,till it is vaccinated ( up to 2 months) is by Cocooning - that is by vaccinating all family members /contacts till baby gets it's own immunity. Even you can get next dose of vaccination after delivery ( as per advise of specialist)
Thanks.
