hi Doc,Im using Testosterone injections(Testoviron 250mg)evey week,beacuse im 19 and after 10days i will be 20..i had no facial hairs and none on my chest..Its 4 moths that i have been injecting tees..now my sideburns are gettin dark and my hairs have started growing on my chest.But my sperm count has decreased alot and my testicles have also shrunk..when i will leave injecting tees will my sperm come to normal? Age=20,Height=177,weight=65kgs
Hello Thanks for your query,based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have been taking Testosterone injections for delayed puberty and have now noticed reduction in size of your testicles(Testicular Atrophy) and your sperm count has also reduced.
This is due to exogenous Testosterone that you are taking .This may be in higher dosage than required . The exogenous Testosterone acts like a naturaly secreted Testosterone (Endogenous Testosterone )by Testis which in its turn decreases secretion of Leutinising hormone (LH) by Pitutary gland which is controls the growth of the testis and sperm production.
This is reversible and start producing sperms once you stop taking testosterone injection before it gets damaged completely. Dr.Patil.
