Can Trazodone And Melatonin Be Taken Together For Insomnia?

Is it alright to take Trazodone with melatonin for sleep? If so, what should be the best mg of each to take? I currently take trazodone 50mg QHS, but sometimes, especially if I go to bed too early, I wake during the night at 02:00-04:00 when it is too late to re-dose (in my opinion). YYYY@YYYY Thanks

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Yes, trazodone and melatonin can be taken together for insomnia.

I think you should respect the dose that your doctor prescribed to you do not increase or take off without his/her opinion.

I think you should get a mixture of sleep herbs too including: aloe vera, valerianna, passiflora, chamomile. Most of my patients who used them, have reported great results.
Discuss this also with your caring doctor.

Hope the best for you.
