Can UTI Cause BP, Sugar And Cholesterol To Aggravate?
My sister told me that her BP was 208 over 108 at Dr visit (Diabetes checkup) and they gave her another BP med to take. The next 2 days, her hubby told her she was slurring. A friend said it was probably the new BP meds. Early yesterday, she woke up, got dizzy, passed out, and it woke my brother in law up. He took her to hospital and they said it looks like it was probably a small stroke and were keeping her for testing. She texted me today and said she has a UTI which caused her BP, sugar and cholesterol to skyrocket which caused it all. Does that sound believable?
General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, Thanks for the query. I understand your concern. Yes, UTI can cause raised blood pressure. But UTI does not lead to diabetes. Your sister's high cholesterol & diabetes added to blood pressure level... to precipitate miner stroke. I would suggest to take the incidence to be a warning bell.. & get her health fully checked & all the aliments fully controlled by suitable antibiotic/ blood pressure medicine & diabetes control .. along with healthy life style . This will take her out of the problem. Thanks.
