Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Can warfarin possibly cause higher triglycerides? I have a client that is eating very healthy and exercising a lot, so he should not have high triglycerides. We have talked about the carbs, pasta, alcohol, fruit and juices and he barely eats any of those things. He eats less than 100 grams of carbs per day. He is currently taking red rice yeast, fish oils and vit D.
Thanks for using HCM, I understand your concern and will try to give you my medical advice, the high triglycerides is no a common side effect of warfarin but the warfarin can damage the liver ( where the metabolic process occurs) your friend is keeping a healthy lifestyle and probably his high levels of triglycerides is consequence of the some metabolic disorder just check with your doctor he also be able to tell you about ways to reduce or prevent this malfunctioning. I hope that my advice has been helpful, take care
