Can Xanax Be Taken For Anxiety Post Paxil Withdrawal?

I am suffering from anxiety and recently went off Paxil, down from 10 mg to 5, then 0. I am having very severe anxiety and don t know if taking a xanax is dangerous. I did take 3/4 mg today. and it helped somewhat but I am afraid of being addicted.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* The Xanax ( alprazolam ) can be consumed for the anxiety symptoms of period post Paxil withdrawal period.

However, guidelines of your primary care and physician is better in this direction rather than self consumption of sedative drug, which may pause dependence over a period of time use.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
