Can A 20-year-old Have Colon Cancer?

I was wondering if it s possible for a 20 year old to have colon cancer? My family has pylops that run in the family but no one has ever gotten cancer or even died from cancer in the family. I am a 20 year old African American male. I ve had a few symptoms for quite a while such as change in bowel movements my stools always come out different some normal some small some thin some hard and some lumpy. The other day was the first time my stool had a small blood streak i didn t know if it was from straining but it was a little difficult to past the stool. Does this sound like colon cancer to you ? I m very scared and I do not want to die !!! Nobody in my family has had colon cancer nor died from it and I do not want to be the first. I had an upper gi test done. And I love gotten a cold and the doctors took my blood to run some test to see what it was a few months ago and everything came back good. But if I did have cancer would it show up in that blood test they ran ? My blood levels and everything else was healthy. Could it be colon cancer ? I ve had these symptoms for some months and Google keeps saying its colon cancer I m very scared I m so young!

Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Possibility of colon cancer is unlikely in your case.
In my opinion, you should get done lower GI (gastrointestinal) scopy, colonoscopy for the diagnosis of polyps.
Your changing bowel habits, strong positive family history and blood in stool suggest possibility of polyps more.
So no need to worry for colon cancer at the age of 20 years.
Simple blood reports are not enough for colon cancer.
Colonoscopy and Biopsy are needed to confirm colon cancer.
So consult gastroenterologist and get done colonoscopy to rule out fear of colon cancer in you.
Don't worry, you are not having colon cancer.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
