Can A STD Test For Women Detect Abnormalities In The Cervix?

I m wondering if when a doctor runs test for a std (for a woman) if there was another thing wrong (like cervical cancer) would they happen to see that too? They were only looking for std s but I m wondering if they would have seen something else even if they weren t looking?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The STD test indicate possible infection with chlamydia, herpes, human papilloma virus and other bugs, while tissue abnormalities such as epithelial dysplasia, carcinoma in situ and others require a cervical biopsy of the local part.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
