Can A Birth Control Pill Cause Delays In Menstruation?

hi i missed somewhere around 4 birth control pills last month. when i realized a day or two later i would take the ones i missed, then forgot again, and did the same. now i was supposed to get my period last week. can this missing/taking pills a few days late be the cause of my period being late or not at all?
