Can A Blood Clot To The Brain Cause Death In A Person?

My father died suddenly a few weeks ago,the Drs think it was a clot to the brain,but just moments before death he turned a yelloe color,as he was never a drinker,he had high bp,always took meds for it.the only thing looking back,was he slept more during the day,for about two weeks prior?
