Can A Broken Blood Vessel Bruise In My Knee?

I have a bruise on the lower left side of my knee cap on my left leg. I did not hit it in any way, but it is VERY tender to the touch and feels like a strong bee sting or a burning sensation and is swollen. Is this a broken blood vessel? My age, 63, Height 5'4" 130lbs. and great health.
