Can A Bruise On Leg Post Angiography Cause Blood Clots?
I recently had an angiography or angiogram done through the groin-right leg, procedure was ok only at the end there was a bit of bleeding. I was on observation for 4 hours and sent back home, no further issues, just a big bruise across the tight and soreness in the same area, I was told that was normal. No swelling or any fever but ever since I started to have a weir pain in the arc of the right foot, while standing, walking seated or even laying on the bed. Could this be because of a blood clot?
Bruise on leg post angiography is not a threat to blood clots unless it is associated with underlying platelet dysfunction or other coagulation parameter disturbances. Minor level of bruise is normal post angiography and resolve on its own. However, very large bruises must be taken superstitiously and kept on vigilant watch for underlying bleeding disorder or some sort. If any of the post procedure lab data results are available with you, it would be of great help to understand this better way.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
