Can A Fibrillation Reoccur Due To Embolism?

My friend went into a frilation and I understand that was from an embolism - think they were able to bring her back, will that happen again? She had a stroke in November in her eyes and lost her sight. I assumed that after that they had her on blood thinners, however now this has happend.
