Can A Gastroenterologist Treat A 10-year-old Girl Having Bloody Stool?

Dear Sir, My 10 year old daughter is having bloody stools from previous 4 weeks. Uptill now two child specialist and a female surgeons have treated her but no improvement. The female surgeon has now internally checked and told that there are no fissures or anal problem. There might be intestinal infection. She has no abdomen pain and blood in stools also looks fresh. I am confused which specialist should I consult. Whether a gastroenterologist is the best choice. Kindly advise, thanks

Hi Welcome to HCM
I can understand your concern for your daughter having bloody stool.

Blood in stool can occur for many different reasons. While some cases that only last for couple of days, it’s important to track changes in your bowel habits and see a doctor if rectal bleeding persists for more than a week or so.
Rectal bleeding in school-age children is not uncommon, and it usually comes from a benign source, such as a small tear in the lining of the bowel from having a hard bowel movement.
These usually are treated with fluid, stool softeners and lubricants.

Modifying your food habits and avoiding faulty life style habits like imbalanced diet , dehydration over work, anxiety , can help eradicate constipation which causes various health problems .

Butter milk with little salt and black pepper daily and sesame seed 1/2 a spoon with butter helps alley this problem .
also
Homeopathic Ferrum Phos 30 once a day for 3 days works well

Contact a gastroenterologist if you have blood stool persistently and think you may need treatment.

Hope this helps solve your query
Take care .All the best .

fresh blood in stools without abdominal pain is suggesting lower gastro intestinal tract problem.most common cause is anal fissure or piles.some times if the patient is constipated and strains while defeacation will lead to blood streaks on hard faeces and fresh blood in stools. It is better for you to consult a gastro enterologist. apart from that the girl should eat fruits with fibre like water melon or musk melon and vegetables and avoid junk food and should have regular bowel habits to get rid of this kind of problems.
