Can A Heart Disease Affect On Sex Life ?
I feel totally selfish asking this question, but my boyfriend just wont talk about things. He was born with a heart defect and had needed a new heart valve aged 15. He had endocarditis in July 10,and has been told he needs to have the valve replaced as the endocarditis has savaged it, and is regurgitating blood . He is more tired but tries not to let it effect his life; he does everything now that he has always done he just tires alot more quickly. His sex drive has totally diminished.Is this normal? May seem a stupid question but when i ask him if he thinks its due to his health he wont talk about it. I ve tried googling but lack of sex drive is not listed as a common side effect

Lose of sex drive may be due to lot of stressors which are currently going on in his life...
I would suggest you to get a counseling done and also convince him to get a valve replacement done as it is very essential for his survival..

Your boyfriend's heart problem and valve replacement has nothing to do with 'sex drive', but the actual sexual act requires such an effort that the heart must do extra work which normally happens in healthy individuals. Your boyfriend must ve been be advised some rest after the operation and not to put strain on the heart for few days. You can go to his cardiologist along with him and enquire if his heart is now ready to take that 'strain'. And loss of sex drive in your boy friend can be due to emotional stress which needs proper psychologist evaluation and management. Wishing you all the best
