Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Can A Person Have Trichomoniasis And Test Negative?
I had my physical done and I asked to be tested for any STD S as I have at all my physical exams. I received my results and was to told that test was positive for trichcomas, I only have been active with only one partner. So, I went back to my doctor and had another test done and it came back back negative with out any treatment. how could this be?
If trichomonas is isolated once on a test result this is considered a diagnosis for trichomonas. A negative test afterwards (without treatment) is not reliable. Trichomonas is isolated in a test only in 60% of the cases, thus if it was once isolated but later not, still the patient should take treatment for it.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
