Can A Polluted Environment Cause Headaches?

Hello doctor. My name is Muhammad Anas Athar. I am 23 yeard old. For the past 5-6 dayd (almost a week) i have been experiencing a non continuous pinching pain in different areas of my head including the temple area, forehead, top back of head and base of the skull. The pain is mild but its aggravated when i cough, excrete, speak loudly, bend over or suddenly stand up. Using my cellphone, laptop and tablet for a considerable period of time also excruciates the pain. The pain is totally absent when i wake up in the morning. It also gets better with mint steam intake and hot water bath. The pain doesnt stop me from daily routine activities but is very annoying. I have prolonged untreated sinusitis and i very much susceptible to cold, flu and congestion. Plz suggest and tell if this might be due to something serious? What cud be the possible cause of it? Just for ur info i m an engineer and i work in an oil refinery in a dusty environment full of hydrocarbons and nasty smell in air. I have recently suffered amd recovered from flu. Does it have anything to do with my pain?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi.

Yes, your environment and exposure to dust, and other chemicals in the air must be the most likely cause. I would strongly recommend the use of an occupational mask in the region of your workplace. Along with this, I would also recommend a check on your gastrointestinal region with the help of an ultrasound and even possibly an upper GI endoscopy if your doctor deems it necessary.

Best wishes.
