Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Can A Pregnancy Test Be Negative But I Still Miss My Period?
I stopped taking Nuvaring beginning of September. Had my period September 16th...but haven t gotten my period since then. I took two pregnancy tests at home towards the end of October 1 week apart and both were negative. Not sure what s going on here? Could I still be pregnant?
There can be absence of menses in presence of negative urinary pregnancy tests as: - Vaginal or pelvic infections - Hormone imbalance - Polycystic ovarian disorders - Low hemoglobin - Extreme stress, anxiety - Endocrine abnormalities as hypothyroid condition - Others
Kindly consult your OBGYN for this purpose and get necessary check up with ultrasound of the abdomen & pelvis to look into the primary cause of concern for best guidelines.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
