Can A Pregnancy Test Be Negative But I Still Miss My Period?

I am currently on birth control, oral. I have not had my period this end of the pill cycle. So I'm about a week late. I took a pregnancy test and it is negative. Not sure what my other options are of why I haven't had a period yet. They have been normal, until now.

Hi Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.

Birth control pills act by preventing ovulation (release of egg). So release of egg donot take place when you are regularly taking theses pills. These pills should be taken once daily at about same time for 21 days & then stopped or inactive pills are then given. Then your periods came after 5-7 days.
If you take active hormonal pills regularly then your periods will not came.If this is the case you should stop taking active pills or could take inactive pills.
If you have stopped taking acxtive pills & still there is no bleeding or periods after 7-10 days you should consult a gynaecologist

Hope this information helps
good luck
