Can A Rigid Splint Help With Toe Bunion Pain?

Three months ago, I injured my left great toe, striking the digit head-on against a refrigerator. A bunion developed rapidly, greatly progressing over these months. Rubber spacers relieve pain somewhat. Would a rigid splint, day or night or both, help? Would like to avoid surgery at this time. I am 75
