Can A Spinal Tap Cause Temporary Paraplegia?

A few years back I had meningitis and was given a spinal tap without any anesthetic . Every since than I will randomly collapse to the ground and be physically unable to move the lower half of my body. I was told it was typical when I called but I do not think it is.
