Can A Splinter Stuck Inside Left Foot Cause Problems In Future?

Hello and Thanks. It seems that I stepped on something like a splinter or small shard and it stuck in my left foot. It didnt bother me enough for me to notice when, or enough for me to do anything but now it appears that skin has grown over it and it is bothering me now...I tried to get it out with fingernail clippers and couldnt but its so small that I cant really see it but I feel it. Please what is your advice I would hate the idea of it causing a problem, etc. ????? Please Help!
