Can A Torn Calf Muscle Cause A Severely Elevated D-dimer?

58 yrs old in excellent health, normal weight and I am a runner. Had pain in calf area for 2 months and not improving. extremely elevated d-dimer 4000 ng/ml. No other symptoms or signs. Prior to this, 3 months ago I had negative chest CT, 2 months ago negative abdominal and pelvic CT with contrast. What could be the cause? Is it possible for a torn muscle (my calf pain) to cause severely elevated d-dimer?
