Hi,

Your partner have all the complications of diabetes. Kidney damage like proteinuria is usually associated with diabetic eye disease which may be the reason for swollen legs. Convince him the need of regular medications and consult a doctor who will do an HbA1C, Urine albumin, renal function and then optimise his medications.

Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
