Hi! Welcome to Healthcaremagic.
I read your query. Saliva helps in moistening and chewing of food. Chewing and sucking food usually results in more saliva production but low saliva can be due to various reasons.
Do you have history of any disease like
diabetes,
anxiety, sjogren or medicines you take or
dehydration, infection or blocked salivary glands, chemo or radiotherapy, etc.
I suggest you to keep yourself hydrated. Drink lots of fluids. Chew sugarless gums. Suck on sugarless candies.
If problem persists, visit a
dentist. He may investigate your salivary glands manually and by x-rays. If any problem, get treatment. Also consult your physician if you are taking some medications as they may be cause of low saliva.
You can ask your dentist for prescription of artificial salivary rinse and sprays.
Maintain good
oral hygiene as low saliva can lead to increased cavities and gum problems. Get regular oral prophylaxis done.
Hope the answer helps you. Thank you.
