Can Alcohol Be Consumed While On Lamictal And Seroquel?

Hi, I need help managing my medications and alcohol while I m abroad. I m young and going to a music festival and I would really like to drink with the rest of my friends but so far drinking even two light beers makes me nauseous and I don t feel the normal effects of alcohol at all. I m on 200mg of lamictal and 50mg of seroquel.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Lamictal is composed of 'Lamotrigine', which is an anticonvulsant medication used to treat epilepsy and bipolar disorder.
Moderate interaction has been noted with lamictal and alcohol. Alcohol can increase the nervous system side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, and difficulty concentrating. It is better to avoid or limit the use of alcohol while being treated with lamictal. Seroquel is composed of 'Quetiapine, which is an atypical antipsychotic medication used for the treatment of schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and major depressive disorder. Seroquel with alcohol interaction is found to be minor. However, abstaining from alcohol is advisable as it's intake can directly affect bipolar disorder.

Hope I have answered your query.
