Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Can Allergies Cause A Swollen Lymph Node In The Throat?
Can allergies cause a swollen lymph gland in the throat area? I think I am allergic to pine air fresheners I have hung in my Christmas tree and/or new laundry detergent I have been using. It is sore enough that every time I move I am aware of it there.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern. As per your complain allergies does not commonly cause lymph nodes to swell but many a times when a person is prone to allergies especially to air borne allergens, he or she is more susceptible to develop sinus infection/inflammation and also a higher risk of ear and throat infection which can cause swelling of lymph nodes.
I would therefore suggest you to consult an ENT physician and get evaluated and you can be given a course of antibiotics and painkillers and also medication will be given for allergies like Levocetrizine for relief. Along with it doing cool compresses over the tender lymph nodes will provide relief.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Honey Arora
