Can Amenorrhea Be Due To Stress?

Am 36yrs, got divorced end of february moved to a shared accommodation, my last period was end of February and had not had any since. Its been three months, so went to see my GP who informed that it could be due to stress, am not pregnant and there is nothing they can do for at least six months to a year. Am really worried and getting more stressed.
