Can An Allergy Cause Swollen Eyelids?

Age 50 - Female I woke up this morning with swollen eyes - eyelids, face slightly swollen and earlobes and some slight splotchy redness in neck and face. I have not had allergies in the past. I was outside yesterday for three hours working in the yard. I m not currently on any medications. No runny nose, itchy watery eyes or scratchy throat. Could this be allergies? Or something more severe? I applied cold packs this morning, took benadryl and ibuprofen and swelling has gone down but still there.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Yes, this could be allergy. If you have a prescription of any antihistamines. I would advise you to take that for a week.

Hope it helps.
