Can An Ectopic Pregnancy Cause A False Negative Report?

Hi, I have been taking Micronor birth control for the past 4 months now and I am currently 13 days late for my period. I am having lower abdominal pain, so I took a pregnancy test and it came out negative. Can an ectopic pregnancy cause a false negative?

hi,its very unlikely in case of ectopic for upt to be negative as the upt kits are highly sensitive and pick up even very low levels of hcg.your lower abdominal pain could be due to pre menstrual syndrome also.so don't worry.ectopic is best confirmed by ultrasound though.you are on micronor ie norethisterone which commonly causes irregular periods.so its nothing to worry.all the best take care.
