Can An Extra Dose Of Metoprolol Be Taken For Lowering Blood Pressure?

I just started taking blood pressure meds. I was prescribed 25mg metoprolol. I was told to take half a pill in the morning and half a pill before bed. Tonight my blood pressure shot up to 150/101 with 84 pulse. After about an hour I checked it again and it was 134/94 with 79 pulse. Could I take another half of a 25 MG pill to lower blood pressure?

Yes. You can have half tablet of metoprol at this blood pressure of 134/94mmhg & pulse 94 as of now. But I think you need to reappoint your physician if your bp continuously showing higher result then 140/90mmhg. & also check your bp before taking bedtime dose & if its below 110/70mmhg than you can skip the dose which is less likely to happen. Take care. Have a nice day.
