hi dr this is my Pap smear results, please give some information about neutrophils and bacillus what does they mean?



Cervix smear

Adequacy of the specimen: Satisfactory

General categorization: Negative for intraepithelial lesion.

Descriptive interpretation:

Microscopy: Two Papanicolaou stained smears show clusters of unremarkable superficial and intermediate

squamous cells. Clusters of unremarkable endocervical columnar cells noted. Neutrophils seen, Bacillus

vaginalis Doederlein present. No malignant cells seen.

Thanks for writing to HCM

Your report suggests that you are not suffering from cancer.Smear is negative for malignant(cancerous)cells.
There are only neutrophils and bacillus,it shows infective cervicitis.
You should consult your gynecologist.Your problem can be treated conservatively.
