Can Antibiotics Be Taken Along With Painkillers For Persistent Toothache?

Hi Dr Andrew, i have a toothache for a few days. it was fine if i did not chew anything on it. i have taken panadol and ibuprofen for one day only. can i take amoxicillin? my symptoms are sharp pain when chewing on it or apply pressure on it. it was no pain when not putting any pressure on it. but i was just waken up by the pain now. i suspect there is some infection there.

Hello

No problem with taking the amoxicillin along with either panadol or ibuprofen but you should have your doctor take a look and decide if amoxicillin is the appropriate antibiotic for your problem--sometimes clindamycin is more appropriate here
