Can Antibiotics For Skin Allergic Cause A Delay In Menstruation?

Hello. I had my last lmp in dec around 14th or 15th dec. Generally i get 4 days early every month. I has taken antibiotics n pain killer fm 27th dec. ( cephaxin, alaspan,enzoflam &anzivista) as i had skin problem. Tdy is 18th..i still have not got my periods. I checked & i m not pregnant. Pls advise.

Pregnancy tests detect HCG hormone. This is normally detectable by day 11 to 14 after conception.
If the test was done before this time period then it would need to be repeated because it would be falsely negative.

If it was done was after this time period then it is accurate.

Delayed periods can be due to other causes, one possible cause is emotional or physical illness. It is possible that your illness may have caused the delay.

Other causes are: (a) side effect of medication but none of the medications mentioned
(b)thyroid disease
(c)high levels of prolactin hormone
(d)inadequate diet
(e)excess physical activity

If the test is truly negative and you wish to rule out one of these then physical examination and blood tests can be done.
