Can Arthoscopic Surgery Cure Arthritis In Shoulder Joint?

Hello, I am a 53 year old male and I just had an MRI done on my left shoulder 3 weeks ago. The MRI showed a lot of arthritis in the shoulder joint. The doctor suggested physical therapy which I have done for the last three weeks. The shoulder pain has become worse with physical therapy. I saw the doctor again a few days ago and he recommends removing the arthritis by arthroscopic surgery. I am getting a second opinion from another well known orthopedic doctor this coming Wednesday. I would like to know what the recovery time is from that type of surgery. I am very active, and also play a lot of golf. Will this surgery prevent me from playing golf this summer?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Arthroscopy is minimally invasive. This means that the surgery is done through very small cuts.

Because it is minimally invasive, the recovery time is normally shorter than with a more extensive procedure.
Though light activities can be restarted within a few weeks however, it can take 2 to 6 months before sports can be restarted.

I hope this helps
