Can Arthritis Causes Pin Like Pain On The Fingers?

I hate to be a baby but I have been experiencing an issue with my right hand ring finger a piercing pain like a needle has been stuck into it from the top inside joint to the knuckle. Is it just arthritis or could be fybermyolgia? It can almost be shockingly painful.

Hi,

Arthritis can cause pin-like pain in the fingers, particularly osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Osteoarthritis is a degenerative joint disease that can cause pain and stiffness in the finger joints, especially in the morning. Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease that causes joint pain, swelling, and stiffness, typically in the hands and feet. It can also cause nodules or bumps under the skin near the affected joints.

Fibromyalgia, on the other hand, is a condition characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain, fatigue, and tenderness in localized areas, known as tender points. However, fibromyalgia does not typically cause sharp, localized pain like the one you described.

It is best to consult with a healthcare provider for a proper diagnosis and treatment plan. They may order imaging tests or blood work to determine the cause of your pain and recommend appropriate treatment options, such as medications, physical therapy, or occupational therapy.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
