Yes I just recently had pneumonia ... And the antibiotics I was prescribed did not fully kill the infection, but my dr. Just prescribed another antibiotic augmentin 875mg 2 pills twice a day... For 10 days can that kill the infection in my left lung where the pneumonia is still there after my chest X-ray?

Hello,
Welcome to HCM,
Tab Augmentin is an excellent antibiotics having amoxicillin and clavulanic acid.
Amoxicillin is susceptible to degradation by beta-lactamases produced by resistant bacteria and Clavulanic acid is a beta-lactam structurally related to penicillins. It inactivates some beta-lactamase enzymes thereby preventing inactivation of amoxicillin.
Definitely it is going to help you. Pneumonia is nothing but infection of the lungs, Augmentin is a excellent drug in the management of lung infection.
Thank you.
