Can Bacterial Vaginosis Escalate To Pelvic Inflammatory Disease?

I was treated for BV (I used vandazole) and continued taking my birth control as usual. My period is now a bit late and abnormally light. I am also having cloudy urine, which I assumed was simply because I am dehydrated. Could this mean that my BV escalated into PID?

Hi there,
Welcome to HCM,
No it is not possible for the Bacterial Vaginoses to have progressed to PID.
BV is a vaginal infection and does not ascend to the other organs. It is only cause by a specific bacteria easily treated with anti-bacterials like Vandazole (metronidazole).
Pelvic inflammatory disease is caused by a different group of bacteria called Gonorrhoea, Chlamydia or other pathogens called Trichomonas.
These need to be identified by swabs and treated if identified. They are sexually transmitted.
BV is not sexually transmitted.
If you have a cloudy urine please go a urine microscopy and culture sensitively. And if any infection shows up, take specific treatment.
Hope this helps.
Regards.
