Can Band Aid Be Removed From Skin Lesion After Cauterization?

I had a lesion cauterized today after biopsy and have no idea what to do about the band aid that the doctor applied. Should i leave it on? The small pad on the band aid is red from blood, and it itches. The area itched before the procedure. Its been four hours since the procedure. Should I take it off? Leave it on? What about showering?
