Can Beer Be Taken While Having Wernicke-korsafoff's?

is this free? my sister has wernicke-korsakoff's and has pain in both legs and feet and is falling more and more. Her gait is unsteady. She's off "real" alcohol but insists on drinking 3-5 "near beer's" (.05 alcohol content) a day. I say "no" to near beer. Am I correct in thinking she's making illness worse by drinking near beer?
