Can Bile And Purple Vomiting By A Child Be Just Gas Problem?

My 7 year old granddaughter has been vomiting all night. First the vomit was food, then bile, then a dark purple. Last week she had severe abdominal pain and my daughter took her to the ER. The physician said it was gas pains and treated her with gas x. No tests were done. She has no fever.
