Can Birth Control Pills Cause Mood Swings?

Hi, Age-17 not sure about my weight my heights about 5.6. I keep getting really bad headaches. my moods change all the time happy sad angry any mood just randomly. Im more angry most of the time and I keep gettin really bad mood swings. I am on the pill and thought it was that but im not sure, iv asked my doctor a while back and she told me to take the pill for 3 months without a break then have a break and do it again. It did work reacently though i couldnt get in to the doctors to get another lot of it so i missed the pill for a week and was just wondering if that might be it?
