Can Bleeding With Large Clots Be Related To A Miscarriage?

how do i tell my husband to be that i'm miscarring?? i started to bleed last night, which was kind of strange so i took a test this morning and it came back postive. But i'm bleeding with large clots. i'm not bleeding very bad but enough to have a pad on. how do i tell him?
