Can Blocked Arteries Be Unblocked? Undergone Tripple Bypass And Angioplasty Before

hi i have had a tripple bypass in 2008, march, and had a strock in september, same year and after 2years ,i had pain and had angiography ,doctor said two artiries are blocked again,so have only one clear artirie.this year had a pacemaker,put in.my question is can my blocked artiries be un blocked,what can i do to help ,i am 59 years old.thank you ijaz

Thank you Mr. Ijaz for your query.

I am very sorry regarding your current condition. Blocked arteries can be unblocked by PCI or Repeat CABG. Repeat CABG has four times more mortality rate than PCI and your current condition may not permit CABG. So, PCI can be a good option though coronary anatomy can make it technically difficult or impossible.

Enhanced external counterpulsation (EECP) can be considered, but you maynot be fit for it as you are on pacemaker. EECP can create natural bypass.

After all these considerations, optimal medical therapy for both symptomatic relief and controlling risk factor is, i think, only safe option.
