Can Bulged Discs Be Treated Without A Discography?

Hi. I am a 41 yr.old woman. I have been dealing with bulged disks, C5 And C6 for close to a year now. The doctor wants me to get a discography to determine if i'm eligible for surgery, but it scares me to have 3needles going into the side of my neck! What would make me ineligible to have a surgery?
