Can Cervical Mucus Detect Ovulation Days Or Fertility Levels?
Hello, Doc. Just want to hear a medical opinion. Preferably from an OB-Gyne. July 28, 2016 I took the morning pill. 4 pills and another 4 pills 12 hrs later. I got my period August 10, had unprotected sex because when I checked my cervical it said I was not fertile. August 22, I got chills went to the doctor and from August 23-28, I took antibiotics for my UTI. I was expecting my period by September 6 and when it haven t come up, I got panic and popped loads of ascorbic acid and took 5 pills of Levenorgestrel/Ethinyl Estradiol. Is there a possibility that I could be pregnant? Did I ovulate that time? Or could it be the hormones messing up the schedule? And also, is cervical mucus indications still reliable for determining ovulation or fertility? I always have 28days cycle. Please answer. Thank you.
Cervical mucus can indicate ovulation but is not a 100% reliable method so it should not be used as a sole way for pregnancy prevention. If your periods are late you will need to have a pregnancy test done to rule out pregnancy.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
