Can Chemotherapy Procedure Cause Severe Throat Swelling?

I underwent chemo using Rituxan for ITP in the month of December. Since completion, I have been hospitalized x 2 and had multiple respiratory infections with a new diagnosis of COPD. I used to smoke when I was young. This past week I had throat swelling (severe) after being on Advair x 5 days. Could any of this be due to the chemo?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Yes it could be the reason. Actually you undergo chemotherapy you become immunocompromised and easily get infections. Its possible you have got a throat infection leading to Tonsillitus and feeling of throat swelling.
